As one of the smallest countries in the Middle East, Bahrain is an archipelago consisting of the main island Al Bahrayn and 30 smaller islands, all sitting off the east coast of Saud Arabia. It has the smallest population of the gulf states and is 90% urbanised with the capital Manama and Muharraq being the most populated cities.
